The new Flashman book, Flashman and the Tiger, has just been released in paperback in the UK. It amused me to see that the cover artwork has flashy posing with a Zulu shield, while Rorke's Drift rages on behind him! In fact, the book is a mix of our hero's shorter reminiscences, some of which had been published as short-stories before. These see Flashman in dire peril amidst European intrigues, being involved in the famous baccrat scandal with Edward VBII, and escaping from Isandlwana, only to end up-briefly-at Rorke's Drift. And as usual, our hero's account of it all is spell-binding--though I doubt if his views on Isandlwana would please the revisionists!
