I am currently reading a book that Heliograph readers might find interesting: The Boxer Rebellion: The Dramatic Story of China's War on Foreigners That Shook the World in the Summer of 1900, by Diana Preston (Walker and Company, 2000). The book was printed in the UK last year in a different form under the title: Besieged in Peking (Constable and Co., Ltd.). The book is well written in a style that is easy to follow and is well illustrated with both maps and black and white photographs. The author has really done a lot of research and shed new light on what happened more than one hundred years ago. I highly recommend her book and feel that she has a great future as an author of histories.
