Figures available in the US from The Foundry, 1549 Marview Dr., Westlake, OH 44145, 440-871-4587, fax 440-8925887. In the UK and the rest of the world from The Foundry, Hubert's Lane, Off Doyle Road, St. Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 1RG, Channel Islands, Great Britain. The sets listed below and seen on these pages are as they come right from the blister pack or bag. As you can see there are some strings of metal coming off the figures hands and weapons Generally, the figures come with very little flash. Whatever the little strings of metal are called flash technically, they come right off with a sharp blade. My overall impression of the figures is very favorable. Don't forget to wash, or at least let them soak for 20 to 30 minutes in dish detergent to remove any grease. The Pygmies are 23-24mm while the other figures are 28mm from bottom of foot to eye. I am glad to see that DA23 Heavily Armed Zanzibaris and DA24 Heavily Armed Zanzibaris II come with men firing or hold a pistol, this gives the Zanzabaris some much needed command. DA33 African Tribal Spearmen IV I must say that the figures are not too well animated they look pretty much like the first three sets. May be some body tattoos would have helped. I like the braided hair style on DA35 African Tribal Archers 11 painted up with mud red or white braids these will help give your tribes some nice variety. Keep your eyes averted when you paint these babies, may be I should have used another word, these are anatomically correct and may be a bit large in one area, definitely without children DA44 African Tribal Warrior Women One is not unique here, see DA54 African Tribal Warrior Women Two. Along with the female warchief in DA52 these are going to raise some interesting expressions on your opponents face when they see these figures arrive on the table. The surprise may be just enough for you to win without a fight. DA46M Mixed Weapons contains knobkerries, swords and Masai spears, actually all useful for Masai warriors. With their cute little hats, DA49 Pygmy Archers in Hats, will help give some character to your band of pygmies. I like the variety of poses. While these figures are 5-7mm smaller than the other figures they still seem a little too tall. The DA52 African Tribal Warchiefs will help give your tribes much needed command. I plan on putting those strange throwing knives in their hands and make them distinctive. I think these are some of the best figures in the review along with DA56. I am very glad to see that most of these DA53 African Tribal Musketmen Two are shooting without really aiming. I like the variety of poses. I really like these DA56 African Tribal Spearmen Characters. I'd like to see more natives with scar tattoos. I think these are all great figures, amazing animation and expressions. Unfortunately, the first guy on the right is a little obscured, but he is carrying a head on a spear, definitely my favorite. There are about six different sets of Baluchis and these DA81 Baluchi Matchlockmen in Indian Dress II are very good. There are some great characters here, I love the faces on these figures. I hope that the Foundry will soon come out with a command set. Both DA90 Donkey Trekking Explorer and DA91 Pack Donkeys will find use on your explorations, don't forget even Stanley had riding donkeys with him. Don't let your daughters see these as both DA202 Masai Warriors in Feathered Headdress II and DA203 Masai Warriors in Various Hairstyles are anatomically correct. The headdresses and hair *on these figures are really going to make these figures stand out when painted up with orange/red mud and black with their designer shields in black, orange/red, and white. (Next month we have drawings of shield designs for painting guides). These guys are really going to look good on your table. The facial expressions are just wonderful. You can guess by now that these are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!
