Figure Review

Old Glory's Arabs

by Richard Brooks

I bought four bags of Old Glory's Arabs, two mounted and two foot. (SOD5 - Arabs on foot attacking with swords, SOD7 Arabs attacking on foot with rifles, SOD (Arab cavalry with swords and SOD11 Arab cavalry with rifles.) They both had either swords or rifles and are definitely for their French Foreign Legion and not for Brits.

Of the thirty foot per bag there were 10 different posses in each. They measure 25-26mm from foot to eye. For the most part the posses are realistic, if not bland, with little flash. The same is true of the mounted figures. The ones that show the most lively posses are the wounded figures. The horses show some liveliness although half are just so so posses. These will paint up quite well as the detail is raised and with a detail wash of brown, or whatever your preference, should come out very nice looking. Recommended.

If you are desperate for a French Foreign Legion Fort they have one of high density foam for about $100. There are four wall sections to the fort but one wall is duplicated so there are not four diffrerent walls. The detail is so-so. You will have to add a lot of detail to make this shine. It is certainly not Fort Zinderneuf of Beau Geste fame. If the price were $30 to $50 this would be recommended, but not at $100, that's why I didn't buy it.
