Perhaps every cloud does have a silver lining. While failing behind the publishing schedule for The Grenadier is not a good idea (see this issue's "Editorial Notes"), it did allow me to reserve some space for a last-minute insertion of news from this year's Origins convention - the winners of the various awards: Game Designers Guild Select Awards Each year, the Game Designers Guild, a professional organization of game designers, selects the five games that the members believe are outstanding design efforts of the previous year. They are:

Wells Awards winners are chosen by popular vote by the attendees of the convention. The awards are given to the best miniature and role- playing releases of the previous year (or all-time best, in two cases). The winners are:
