The leading American historian on the pivotal battle fought during the winter of 1944–1945 is Danny S. Parker, and now his valuable history Battle of the Bulge: Hitler's Ardennes Offensive, 1944–1945 is to appear as a large format paperback. On original publication John Keegan wrote 'Danny Parker has written a valuable guide to the history of Hitler's last offensive in the West'. Battle of the Bulge is a complete account, lavishly illustrated with rare photographs, that gives an unswerving, balanced and dramatic narrative of one of World War II's classic campaigns. It is a large format volume, 281 x 218mm (12 x 9in), with 320 pages, 275 illustrations and 8 maps. The UK retail price is £ 18.99. Other reviews of the original hardback publication include: 'The numerous rare photos and maps, buttressed by valuable new information, make Parker's book a welcome addition to previous histories of one of the most crucial battles ever fought by Americans.'
'Of particular value are the numerous references to the decisive effect of logistics in dooming the offensive to failure from the outset. That and the inadequacy of intelligence handling on both sides, and some very interesting (if controversial) comparisons of the strengths and weaknesses of the contestants, all goes to make this a book well worth possessing.'
Danny S. Parker has also compiled for Greenhill two important works bringing together the German officer debriefs from immediately after World War II. These two volumes are Hitler's Ardennes Offensive and Battle of the Bulge: The German View.
