Barnes & Nobles' 100 bestselling books, out of something like 125,000 stocked, account for 7.3% of their sales. These figures for 1998 have just been published in Publishers Weekly, the US trade journal. They report that for hardback fiction the bestseller for Barnes & Noble was John Grisham's Street Lawyer, which sold 265,294 copies, and non-fiction Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie sold 321,707 copies. The bestselling fiction paperback was Rebecca Wells's Divine Secrets at 364,999 copies and Don't Sweat the Small Stuff was the non-fiction bestseller for the second year, selling 540,185 copies in 1998.
