This map shows the World War II graveyards for dozen of U-boats in the North Atlantic. It is from German U-Boat Losses During World War II: Details of Destruction by Axel Niestle, the publication of which was arranged too late for inclusion in the Greenhill July-December catalogue, although a leaflet has been inserted into the catalogue to announce the book. German U-Boat Losses During World War II is the most detailed book available on individual German submarines lost in World War II. The author provides information on the various U-boat types and their building programmes, and lists each U-boat's date of commissioning, its commanding officer and the date and port of departure for its last patrol. He gives the date, position and cause of loss of each submarine, with complete details about the Allied units involved in the sinking, the names and ranks of their commanding officers and pilots, and the number of crew killed or rescue. He also summarises the data on the disposition of surviving U-boats at the end of the War. Using recently declassified wartime documents, the author has been able to establish major corrections to official assessments, as well as updating and adding to hundreds of other records, making this the most up-to-date, comprehensive book on the subject. The contents are:
2. German U-Boat Numbers and Types, 1935-1945 3. Loss Register 4. Foreign submarines captured by German forces and designated for service in the Kriegsmarine Appendixes
1. Chronological List of German U-Boat Losses during World War II Charts
