Military Book Publisher
Takeover

Windrow & Greene has sold the stock and publishing rights in its military titles to Crowood Press. Windrow & Greene was founded by Martin Windrow and Alan Greene in 1990 and the trade press reports that 'the changes follow a period of financial instability during which the company went through a company voluntary arrangement'. Alan Greene is reported in the trade magazine Publishing News as saying 'it has become a very crowded market, and one which is not expanding, and it is difficult for smaller publishers in the field'.

Alan Greene and Martin Windrow have set up a new company under the name Compendium Publishing to continue to publish the Windrow & Greene successful range of directories and books for modellers. It is also setting up a packaging and service arm, called Compendium Design, headed by Frank Ainscough, which will be offering a range of services to other publishers, and packaging further military titles for Crowood as part of the deal. This way some of the excellent, creative and attractive publishing that has been undertaken over the last eight years by Windrow & Greene should continue, albeit under another imprint.
