Alternate history has received much publicity recently and has experienced something of a surge in popularity. The genre even has its own set of awards, the Sidewise Awards for Alternate History, which are to be presented in a ceremony at the next annual World Science Fiction Convention to be held in Baltimore. This year, Greenhill author Robert Sobel has been nominated to receive the Special Achievement Award for his For Want of a Nail, the acclaimed alternate history of North America Greenhill published in 1997.
