Civil War Battle Flags
of the Union Army
and Order of Battle

Excerpts

A remarkable, over-sized book imported from the United States is now available. The 318 x 258mm volume is Civil War Battle Flags of the Union Army and Order of Battle, and it is a monumental and lavishly illustrated work. The book is the definitive reference book on Union battle flags of the American Civil War. It contains 88 superbly detailed colour prints accurately illustrating some 585 flags used by Union Army Corps in the course of the war as well as those that flew above the headquarters of Grant, Custer, Sherman and Sykes. Reproduced directly from the beautiful lithographs of 1887, the standard and detail of the plates is unique.

Combined with the illustrations is a complete Order of Battle for Union forces which charts the command structure for every Army Corps which fought on the Union side, including the names of all corps, division and brigade commanders and their dates of service.

Civil War Battle Flags is by General C. McKeever who compiled the work in 1887, whilst serving as the Quartermaster General of the United States Army.
