by Lionel Leventhal

A surprise birthday party was recently held for Sheila Watson, doyenne of military book literary agents.

Sheila Watson is senior director of Watson, Little Ltd, and her colleague Mandy Little arranged a gathering of her colleagues, friends and clients to greet her on a recent special birthday.

The Watson, Little agency has a wide, general range of author clients, but a particular and long-standing relationship with many authors specialising in books on military subjects.

Shown with Sheila is James Lucas. Other clients of hers who write on military subjects include Ian V. Hogg, Michael Barthorp, Martin H. Brice, Kenneth J. Macksey, Bryan Cooper, Brian L. Davies, Richard Garrett, Brian Johnson, Richard Lamb, and Kenneth Poolman.

James Lucas's long-standing writing career started with his translation, in 1968, from the German, of German Tanks of World War II for Lionel Leventhal's Arms & Armour Press, and books written by him include War in the Desert, War on the Eastern Front, War in the Desert, Kommando, Last Days of the Third Reich, World War II: Through German Eyes and Storming Eagles: German Airborne Forces of World War II.
