Last year saw two films in which Hollywood rewrote history - U571 and The Patriot. This year a ‘blockbuster’ is due about the battle of Stalingrad in World War II and advance publicity for the film Enemy at the Gates seems to indicate that it will be a great spectacle but there are questions about its content. Greenhill have published a number of books about the Eastern Front in World War II, truly the war of the Titans. In print as a trade paperback is the overview War on the Eastern Front by James Lucas, which continues to sell strongly. The Greenhill book Soviet Casualties and Combat Losses in the Twentieth Century presented the statistics and figures from the Soviet side for the whole Stalingrad campaign (first the German offensive and then their defeat) and are truly staggering.
