Last year Amazon.com achieved two records - the highest sales, at $2.76bn (that’s £1.90bn) and greatest loss of $540,000,000 (£373,000,000). Thirteen hundred staff are now being laid off. In Europe Amazon.com is transferring its Dutch call centre, which employs 240 people, to existing operations in the U.K. and Germany.
