Chronology of the Great War

WWI Day by Day

by Lionel Leventhal

Chronology of the Great War gives a wonderful panorama of World War I, and a day-by-day analysis of events. It has 784 pages of detailed, reliable data and is a user-friendly insight into what was happening, and where, on any given date between the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, on 28 June 1914, and the landings at Riga in December 1918.

The Chronology covers each theatre of the war in depth and entries on the Western Front, Eastern Front, Southern Front (Italy and the Balkans), Asia, Africa and naval operations are presented side-by-side for ease of comparison. The chronology itself is fully cross-referenced and supported by a wealth of detailed data on casualties, prisoners of war, expenditure, air raids and losses in shipping. This superb reference book was compiled by an editorial team under the direction of Lord Edward Gleichen for the British Ministry of Information between 1918 and 1920, and draws on official data from British, German, French, Italian, Russian and American sources.

The Chronology (ISBN 1-85367-428-1) will be published in November, priced £14.95.
