Napoleon the Musical

by Lionel Leventhal

Currently receiving considerable publicity in London is the forthcoming musical NAPOLEON which is to open in the middle of October.

Greenhill cannot take any credit for this musical, which is more about Napoleon's romantic life than his military career. But it may increase the interest in Napoleon, and we hope this may attract more readers to our books about the Napoleonic Wars.

The key phrase which the promoters of NAPOLEON: A New Musical are using is: "Love, Ambition, Power ... and Betrayal"

They go on to say:

" 'For you ... I would tear the world apart!' And the world was changed for ever, from the moment when the charismatic, twenty-six year old general with penetrating eyes first asked Josephine to dance with him at a glittering ball held to celebrate the end of the French Revolution. This extraordinary story, brought to the stage in a thrilling new musical, is set to captivate London audiences this autumn.'
