Medals and Awards

Info

by James Beers

Thanks for your message & your success in finding the book. Things have been a little crazy around here - my mother had a heart attack and everything got put on a back burner (and, frankly, is still there). I never got around to sending you a check for the extra five dollars you were out on shipping the books, etc. I'll include it with the $12 for the WW I book. Here, by the way, is installment #1 of book titles that I already have:

"Russian and Soviet Military Awards", by V. Durov, Lenin State History Museum, Moscow, 1990, English and Russian text, paper bound. Great color photos... "Russian Awards of XVIII - Early XX Century", by V. Durov, Moscow, 1997, Russian text. Format 9" by 11 ½", hard covered, 160 pages.

"Russian Award Weapons" in Russian, by Durov, Moscow, 1994, 200 pages. [Durov seems to be the godfather of books on Russian & soviet military awards.]

"Badges and Tokens of Russian Imperial Navy, 1696 - 1917", by V. Dotzenko and others, St. Petersburg, 1993, in Russian with a preface and listing of all illustrated badges in English, hard laminated cover, 140 pages.

"Collection of Moscow History Museum", in English. Soft covered album 11.5 by 8.5 inches, 120 pages with over 240 color illustrations. printed in Germany.

"Symbols of Russia", by Soboleva, Moscow, 1993, 208 pages in Russian with 126 illustrations

"Old Russian Orders - From Kremlin Collection", by V. Nikitina, Moscow, 1995, in English, 44 pages, over 50 color illustrations

"Nagradi" by Alexander Kuznetzov. Moscow, 480 pages in Russian. Many illustrations – though almost all are b/w and the pix of medals are primarily line drawings. Appears to have a lot of copies of original statutes. Hardback with a full color cover.

"The Navy of the Russian Empire" lavishly illustrated 287 page book in English commemorating the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Navy

"Badges of Russia" by Patrikeev & Boynovich. Two large volumes that show virtually every military, naval and civilian badge authorized by the Tsar to be worn on uniform. These are the bibles for badge collectors.

There are badge books by an American named Werlich.

There is also a series of four "Avers" price guides/identification books.
