Leslie's Briefing (Set up and move Second)For the better part of a month, you have kept your army on a course parallel to Cromwell's. Always delaying and harassing the Parliamentarians you have never allowed yourself to be caucht in a pitched battle with Cromwell's veterans. Now, with your army arrayed on good defensive ground and across Cromwell's line of communication with Berwick, it is time to give battle. ROYALIST FORCES (ARMY MORALE - 17)SWEDISH SYSTEM
CROMWELL's BRIEFING (SETS UP AND MOVES FIRST)Since you entered Scotland in July Leslie's army has frustrated you. Always harassing, never standing to fight these Scots have harried you from Berwick to Edinburgh. Half your men are sick with fever, all are disheartened. You had planned to embark your infantry onto ships in Dunbar this morning and let the horse cut their way through, but now as if by a miracle Leslie has brought his army forward in battle array. Now your New Model veterans can do what they do best - fight! DEPLOYMENTS Units must be deployed within the area of their wing commander. Artillery must be placed on the locations marked "artillery" on the map, infantry must start on locations marked "infantry" and cavalry must start on locations marked "cavalry". PARLIAMENTARY FORCES (ARMY MORALE 11)SWEDISH SYSTEM
VICTORY CONDITIONSWhichever army reaches an Army Morale of 0 first, loses. If at the end of 24 turns neither army has broken the army which holds the most Victory Points wins. Victory points are marked on the map. Remember that seizing and losing Victory Points also causes Army Morale to rise and fall. SPECIAL RULES1. All Parliamentary units listed as "Reserves" must be within 8" of Cromwell in order to operate, otherwise they are considered out-of command. Likewise all Royalist units listed as "Royalists" must be within 8" of Leslie. 2. The Spott Burn stops all movement. Units then must spend one action to cross the Burn (except at the bridges). 3. The north west corner of the battlefield, which is sea, cannot be entered. The south east comer of the map, marked level 3 cannot be entered. 4. Forlorn Hopes may enter buildings at the cost of one action. Only one unit per buildino, and one unit cannot occupy more than one building at a time. While in the building, units have a 360' field of fire, cannot be flanked and have a cover and melee bonus. Artillery and musket & pike units may fire and melee against Forlorn Hopes in buildings, but they cannot occupy the buildings if they are evacuated.
