You may be wondering why there's a second editorial at the back of the journal? It's a form of safeguard in case Mark or I get power mad & decide to rip you (the members) off financially or otherwise. I keep an eye on what Mark's up to and vice versa, that way in theory The Gauntlet shouldn't go down the drain the way that amateur journals often do. Plus, it let's the membership know that one of us at least will make sure you know what's going on, which should make for a closer knit group of fellow enthusiasts. There's not a structured "committee" which suits me fine, as I've no wish to play politics. If The Gauntlet is run along the lines of Honesty and Integrity towards the membership, then that will be just fine (besides the only decent committee I can think of was run by Robespierre & look what happened to him!) The idea behind the journal is to showcase peoples ideas & game mechanics for the playing of wargames. We want tips on HOW you go about setting up your games. What we're not looking for is "The History of Sea Warfare; Part 14" ..."How to Wargame Sea Warfare" would get a far different response. Articles sent to The Gauntlet will remain the copyright of the author, because we'd like to see you eventually get paid for your work in the "Glossies". Does anyone have a suggestion for what we could call our group? I came up with the Society of Independent Wargamers (SIW) but Mark thinks it sounds too elitist. There's no great rush to hang a label on ourselves. Maybe the best thing is to just let The Gauntlet speak for itself.
