What Happened

Issue 9

by Anne F. Jaffe, editor
and Dana Lombardy, publisher

Dear Reader:

The December, 1985 issue of GAME NEWS (issue #10) was mailed by Waverly Press in Easton, Maryland, our new printer.

Two important things happened due to this change in printers.

First. the November, 1985 issue (#9) was NOT printed. Due to several problems in the change to a new printer, the previous printer couldn't get the November issue out before the December issue was mailed. Unfortunately, we couldn't change the volume number or issue number of December to adjust for not printing the November issue. (Trivia buffs and collectors will enjoy asking about issue 9 of GAME NEWS years from now.)

All subscribers had their subscriptions extended by one issue due to the November issue not being published.

All the reviews, scenarios, and articles (including the next part in "Making & Marketing Your Game") which were in the November issue will appear in a future issue of GAME NEWS: You won't miss anything!

All future issues of GAME NEWS should be mailed on time: Waverly Press specializes in printing publications like GAME NEWS, and currently prints nearly 200 journals and magazines. This move will help us stay on schedule and allow us to stay with the same printer even as we grow.

Second, the first issue in our second volume (issue #13) will be a special combined March/April anniversary issue. Because GAME NEWS will be sold in stores like Waldenbooks in 1986, a more advanced date was needed on the cover. There will still be one magazine published every month (12 issues per subscription). The difference is that what would've been the April. 1986 issue should now be "May." what would've been the May issue will now be "June." etc.

The special March/April GAME NEWS (#13) will also be larger than our average issue. It's our way of saying "thank you" to all our readers who've been so patient with us in our first year of production.

We're confident that 1986 will be smoother for us and our readers.

Thank you for your support.
