Play By Mail

The Play-By-Mail Association (PBMA) Awards given at Origins 1985 and reported last month in GAME NEWS are worth more of an explanation than the space and time we had for them. According to Michael Gray, Chairman of the Awards Committee, the awards are a source of qualitative data for the PBMA that is essential for the association. The PBMA awards were sent to the PBMA membership. Each member ;vas asked to rate the games they'd played over the last year on a scale from one to nine. The members also graded the PBM companies on the same scale.

The PBMA sent out between 400 and 500 ballots. In the very short time available for responses this year, 153 ballots were counted. In order to qualify for a category, 10 votes were needed. A full listing of the three categories is as follows.:

Role Game

The Kennedy Masquerade Compendium is a book that gives informadon on how to organize, manage and judge a masquerade. It's $10.00, plus $1.00 postage from: Peggy Kennedy, 7 N. Lyons Avenue, Menamds, NY 12204.

Mayfair Games released a second edition of Elves. It's a 96 page supplement for their Role Aids line. Cost: $10.00. Mayfair Games, P.O. Box 5987, Chicago, IL 60680.

Doc's Games offers the following products: Dinky Dungeons a small 2 1/2 X 3 1/4 inch rule book and equally small scale dungeon. But it contains a complete role-playing system. Two dinky six-sided dice are enclosed. Also, Doc's POW Cards, small cards with words like "BONK' on one side and a hex grid on the reverse side.
