Game NewsThe deadline for The Queen's Park Affair contest has been extended to the end of September, according to Mouth Times (Vol. III, No. 1). All contestants, who entered by the original April 15 deadline will be notified of the change in writing. They will have the option of changing or adding to their earlier submissions. Diverse Talents, Inc. (DTI) is currently seeking licensing agreements to produce official variants, modules and expansions to popular games. Steve Jackson Games Inc. recently submitted an agreement to DTI for its Car Wars game. Palladium Books recently received a comic book license for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness, features original art by Eastman and Laird and will be released this October. Retailing for $9.95, the book is compatible with Heroes Unlimited. James Bond fans can look forward to a Fall release of the new supplement VILLAINS for the James Bond 007 role-playing game by Victory Games Inc. The illustrated supplement will detail eight original villains, including Bond's deadliest enemy SMERSH. Alert all Doctor Who fans! The Doctor will be taken off the air in England for 18 months, because the BBC is having budget difficulties and needs to spend money to develop new dramas. Climb into the ring with Big Time Wrestling, a new game release from Armadillo Games. The game costs $9.00 and is now available in stores. "When you wish upon a stone ... you'll have help in solving Wishbringer: the new introductory fantasy game from Infocom, Inc. Retailing for $39.95, the game will be available for most popular brands of personal computers, including Apple II/IIe/IIc, Atari, Commodore, IBM PC & AT, Kaypro, Macintosh, MS DOS and TRS-80 Model III. Wishbringer is a story-oriented design, which is open-ended, in that many of the puzzles have more than one solution, according to game author Brian Moriarty. Some people think so, and the National Coalition on Television Violence and Bothered About Dungeons and Dragons (BADD) have urged their members to write their congressional representatives asking the government to declare the game hazardous. Pat Pulling of Richmond, VA founded BADD after her 16 year old son shot himself to death in 1982. Mrs. Pulling said her son killed himself hours after a curse was placed on him during a game of D&D at his high school. She sued TSR, Inc., its chairman and the two teachers who led the game, but the $10 million suit was dismissed by the Circuit Court of Hanover County, VA Late News Voyage into the realms of mystery aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise liner. Passengers will help track a villain on the QE2s "Murder Overboard" cruise departing September 2 from New York. The creator of the mystery cruise, playwright David Landau, says that the mystery will begin in New York when a detective is trapped on board with his quarry and will continue throughout the entire trip. Solitaire wargamers may enjoy Victory Games Inc.'s September release, Mosby's Raiders: Guerrilla Warfare in the Civil War. The first solitaire game on a Civil War topic, the game recreates the action by John Mosby and his band of Partisan Rangers against the Union Army in northern Virginia.
