A Giant Awakens

A Warhammer Miniatures Scenario

by Karen M. Summerfelt

Long had the Orient heard rumors of the war between Law and Chaos, but it was a faraway war. Little attention was paid to it, until the night of the raid....

Sun Chow was a sleepy fishing village on the south coast. Its only claim to fame was that it was the birthplace of TendakaChugai, Samurai Heroine. Until the raid....

The Warriors of Chaos, led by Khorgrack the Disemboweler, Goblin hero of the Chaos Marauders, hit Sun Chow during the night-burning, looting, killing- nothing moved in the little village when the Goblins of Chaos were finished.

Word reached Tendaka-Chugai quickly Would she avenge her family and the village? She would. Gathering her troops she prepared to leave. She was joined by Kanachi Asagara, another Oriental Hero and comrade in arms. His scout had located the Chaos campsite. They would strike at dawn.

Situation:

The Forces of Chaos are camped on the beach several miles west of Sun Chow. It is just after dawn as the Men of Chaos are preparing for the day that the Warriors of the Orient strike.

The terrain is open, the beach littered with camp gear, booty and refuse. There is a small embankment running the length of the beach. It is 8 to 10 feet in height and almost vertical but can be climbed with some care. The ground beyond the embankment is grassy, open field with a dirt track running parallel to the embankment. There are onlv a few trees in the field area. The Goblins' Longship is beached about 50 yards east of the camp.

Arms and Armor

Orientals: Tendaka-Chugai and Kanachi Asagara carry Samurai swords and wear plate armor. The warriors are armed with swords and naginata and wear mail. The archers carry long bows and naginata and wear mail.

Naginata resemble a short spear with a very long curved blade. It counts as a short spear for Weapon Length, and a Heavy Cutting weapon for attack bonus.

The Goblins: Khorgrack the Disemboweler carries a two-handed mace and a sword and wears plate armor. The Great Goblin warriors carry swords and wear mail armor.

Special Notes:

The Orientals have one surprise round on the Warriors of Chaos. Their archers will NOT enter the battle unless the fighting reaches their position. They will support their fighters with missile fire. The Oriental Heroes have declared "No Prisoners." All Orientals will fight to the death because this is a fight to avenge their families and honor.

Victory Conditions

1) When all of one side is dead and there are survivors on the opposing side, the survivors win.

2) The Orientals win if they destroy the Goblin ship and force the Goblins inland, off the beach. (They will hunt them down later, one by one.)

3) The Goblins win if they succeed in capturing one or both of the Oriental Heroes and escaping by ship with their captive(s).
