Sometimes, Nobody Loves You

A Hammer's Slammers
War Game Scenario

by William Fawcett

There are few creatures slimier than planetary politicians. Last week we savedd thee Castrillan government. The rebels had trapped most of their army on a distant peninsula and were closing in on the capital. When they rushed us in we not only stopped the rebels, but busted their army out of the trap as well.

Then, when most of the Regiment had taken off, those pot-bellied bureaucrats tried to reverse the credit exchange at the Bonding Authority. Now Hammer's got us sitting in the capital until it's cleared up. Trouble is, the bureaucrats made some deal with the rebels and both their armies want the capital back. Hope the Authority settles this quickly, they're getting rather close.

Boards: 5-4-2

Set up:
Blue (Slammers) sets up anywhere on board 4.
Tan (Rebels) and Green (Government Army) must enter from East and West edges, from each side after Slammers have set up.

Defender: Blue (Slammers)
Morale: 7
8 X Hover Tanks
2 X Combat Cars
6 X infantry
6 x Self-Propelled Artillery (SPA)
(Two companies and support units)

Attacker: Tan (Rebels)
Morale: 9
8 X Infantry
8 X Armored Personnel Carrier (APC)
2 X Armored Car
2 X Calliope
4 X Tracked Tanks

Attacker: Green (Government Army)
Morale: 9
8 x Tracked Tanks
4 X Armored Cars
4 x Infantry,
4 x Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs)
2 X Self Propelled Artillery (SPA)
2 X Self-Propelled (SP) Calliope

On the eighth turn the Bonding Authority will have ruled and combat will have to end. (After Paley, no one pushes the Bonding Authority too far.) Total all points.

For each remaining counter of Slarnmers oil board 4-5 points to Slammers. For each Slammer (Blue) unit destroyed-5 points to Planetary Government. For each Planetary unit actually in the capital-2 points to Planetary Government.

Special Rule:
At a cost of 6 points for the Planetary player each the Slarnmer player may bring down up to 2 of any type unit per turn. These will appear on the two hexes containing roads extending North from the center of the city in the center of board 4 (the capital). The loss of units in this game is more a matter of prestige (and future wages) than actual numbers lost by the Slammers.
