BLOCK PARTY DEADLINE LOOMS: The first BPA dedicated mini-con for the block wargame genre and also the first BPA mini-con to venture out of the Pennsylvania-Maryland corridor, will debut April 30th, May 1st & 2nd in Columbus, OH under the able administration of the Columbus Area Boardgaming Society. The featured events will be Hammer of the Scots, Liberty, and War of 1812 by Columbia Games and the newly released Europe Engulfed by GMT. A fifth event, Wizard Kings, has been added as well. Ferkin Doyle of Columbia will be on hand as will Rick Young (the designer of Europe Engulfed) and Jerry Taylor (designer of Hammer of the Scots). Jerry will be bringing several demo copies of his new design Crusader Rex. The venue is The Ramada Inn East Airport in Columbus, Ohio. Room rates are $70.00 when you ask for the CABs Block Party. Tournament Gaming will begin around 6:00 PM Friday. Entry fee for BPA members is $25.00 for the weekend if pre-registered by April 9th so act now. Non-members and At-the-door admission is $40. The tournament uses five-month rounds but all players play three games simultaneously in four-player flights. Players may request fast or slow playing flights (slow being an average of one response per day; fast being several daily responses). BREAKOUT NORMANDY PBeM ENTERS FIFTH ROUND: The field of 48 in the third PBeM BKN tournament is now down to three as Henry Jones, Bruno Passacatando and Don Greenwood have all survived unbeaten through four rounds. Top AREA rated player Tom Dworschak has been pressed into service as an Eliminator and if he defeats Greenwood, the Jones-Passacatando match will decide the outcome. Otherwise, there will be a sixth round.
