Titan

No-Elimination Variants?

by Seah Seow Buay

We have a partnership version called 'Titan Twins' for 4. Rules are:

Titan Twins

Introduction

Titan Twins is a Titan variant for 4 people, with play being between 2 pairs. Play continues until any one pair is completely eliminated (see rules below). Hence its key feature is that it removes the problem of having players eliminated in midgame.

Variant Rules

1. All Titan rules are applicable except where specifically changed below.

2. Each member of the pair will take control of one set of legions. The other member of the pair will be referred to as the partner. Members are not allowed to communicate with, examine legions of, move for, fight for or transfer legions markers with their partner.

3. At the start of the game, 4 towers will be selected randomly. One pair will start in the highest and 3rd highest tower while the other pair will start in the other towers.

4. Each player will move his own legions in turn. A player cannot move through nor land on his partner's legions.

5. If a player cannot move because all his moves are blocked by his partner, then he does not move any legion at all. Otherwise each player must move at least one legion in his turn.

6. When the 1st member of a pair loses his Titan, the battle does not end immediately on that turn. Instead the battle proceeds to completion with one side being completely eliminated and with score being awarded to the winning side. In such a case, the player with the slain Titan does not lose his other legions and neither does he surrender his legion markers to the other player after the battle. Neither does the other player get half score for the slain Titan's other legions. Instead the player with the slain Titan proceeds normally. Note that such a player's score will no longer have any effect on Titan strength or abilities as the Titan is no longer existent. However the score will still be applicable for mustering of angels.

7. When either member of a pair loses all his legions, he will choose to take over 1-3 legions of his partner. He first declares the number of legions that he is taking over. This number must not result in him having more than the legions remaining with the partner. Next his partner selects the legions for him to take over. This must not include the Titan legion. These legions have their markers replaced accordingly. In the event that the partner has only one legion when this happens, the pair immediately loses.

8. The game ends and a pair is considered to have lost when:

Both Titans of the pair are destroyed OR One member loses all his legions and his partner has only one legion remaining at that instance.

9. Tower teleportation is not allowed on the 1st turn.
