We bring to all our loyal readers and subscribers a range of bits of news for the new year. Computer Game Design has become a recognized undergraduate major via an accredited Computer Science Department. A vast number of new games continue to flood the market. Game! Magazine expects to continue publication for another year. We continue to search for new, reliable, contributors whose brilliant prose and fabulous articles will reduce the deficit that the Editor of Game! continues to face. Every subscriber will make a difference. More are better. On a more serious note, the number of new published board wargames would appear to remain steady. The number of players may be less substantial than in years past, but new titles on new battlefields continue to appear. It is through the dedication of thousands of hobbyists around the United States that your fellow gamers continue to enjoy game conventions, local events, magazines, regional and topical clubs, and above all the market that keeps our hobby’s game publishers hard at work. The news, then, is positive for our hobby. Pessimists might worry that the process of European unification is making it less likely that there will be a general European war, that reducing the influx of new battles to game, but on the other side a continent at peace is a continent that will supply mar-kets, designers and hobbyists to enhance our playing experi-ences. After entirely friendly negotiations, we have worked out how back issues will be handled. Game Table Online will con-tinue to offer subscriptions at yearly rates for its members and for non-members. Back issues, single issues, and paper-printed issues will all be handled by Sandi Homer and Homer Games. And as all is well in most of the world, we wish all our read-ers a joyous holiday season and a Happy New Year! Game! Will return in January.
