Yes, this issue is slightly late. Over the Labor Day Weekend, I agreed to perform a minor political task, namely to serve as National Mobilization Facilitator (roughly speaking, chief volunteer coordinator) for the Libertarian Presidential Campaign of Michael Badnarik. I was suddenly supposed to create and support 50 state campaigns and the DC campaigns, including finding state coordinators, tasking them, linking people in each state up with their state coordinator, linking volunteers with specialized skills up with the people in the National Campaign effort who needed those skills, etc. In round numbers, there were about 1500 volunteers, several somewhat cranky at least at first email lists, challenges with the web page support, and a rather thin startup effort before that. (Michael Badnarik received the nomination on Memorial Day; at that point, there was no campaign organization other than the candidate's driver.) Despite a variety of challenges, some of which are described in my book Funding Liberty (Third Millennium Press, http://www.3mpub.com/phillies ) matters did shake down, sort of. A great deal of positive work was done. As a result, Michael Badnarik approximately tied Ralph Nader for third place, and the Libertarian Party finished a clear third among political parties that ran a presidential candidate. However, the politics did keep me a bit busy. On other notes, for 30 years the Strategy Gaming Society under various names published a monthly newsletter, first “American Wargamer” and then “Strategist”, often with your humble Editor as their editor. The SGS has published one issue of Strategist this year, not with me as Editor. Game! offers readers the same fine editorship that sustained the SGS for decades, but more pages (24+) at a lower price. As a special benefit for frustrated SGS members I have negotiated as special introductory price for former SGS members who want to sample Game! - $18.00 for a yearly electronic subscription through Game Table Online http://gametable online.com, for their first year. After the first year, SGS members will pay the Gametableonline non-member or member price depending on their status. To get the $18 rate follow the subscription directions for non-gto members and put "SGS rate" in the email and include your phone number. Back to Table of Contents -- Game! # 10 To Game!
