In one of Saturday's British papers (Daily Mail) there was a brief article on an incident at Shingle Street - a village in Suffolk in 1940. The official archives were to be released soon, but have been sealed for another 30 years. The Germans apparently launched a raid to destroy Bawchey Manor - a main radar station. Evidence is growing to suggest it happened - a Police Inspector at Felixstowe ferry (just across the Deben Estuary from Bawchey - found a German soldier's body, which was buried in Felixstowe cemetery. A group of WAAF's the day after the incident are reported to have seen wrecked craft, and German dead with evidences of hand to hand fighting.
