The Southwest England Off-Map Area

Home Front: Second Front

by Alan Tibbetts

I've been frustrated by my inability as the Allied player in Second Front to provide air cover for operations in the far northwestern part of France. While southeastern England appears on the SF map, southwestern England has fallen off the edge. With it has gone an important Allied capability. Therefore, I propose a holding box to specifically represent southwestern England.

The Southwest England Off-Map Area consists of two elements: Ports and Airbases. Add to the off-map port summary chart in the Allied "Britain" holding box.

The Plymouth Ports:
Port Type Great; Distance to 17A:O117/0114: 4

Allied air units may fly missions from off-map airbases in southwest England. Air units may enter 17A:O116/0113 for 3 MP and 17A:0120/0117 for 5 MP. Any mission can be flown from the off-map airbases.

[We thought Alan's idea so worthy that we coaxed A. E Goodwin into providing a semi-official version of the actual SW England map for this issue. It's not in color, but it gets the job done. Alan's holding box is perfectly serviceable, or if you want to use a 'real' map, you can do that too. As always, you may photocopy the map, or any other part of the magazine for your personal use. -FW]
