East Meets West

Like the "on demand" air system of Second Front and For Whom the Bell Tolls? Victor Hauser grafts it onto Fire in the East and Scorched Earth. Planned for TEM47.

The Invasion of Sicily

Operation HUSKY is the topic of this Europa battle scenario by Frank Watson. The Axis player must choose during play between a "withdraw" or a "hold" strategy, each with a different set of victory conditions. The Allied player must decide how hard he should push each turn, and the tension between avoiding losses and rapidly conquering territory leads to an exciting match. In addition to the historical battle, there are also "free deployment' and "hold at all cost" variants to add spice and variety to play. Planned for TEM 48.

Second Front Naval System: A Second Look

A simplified naval variant for Second Front, developed by Alan Tibbetts.

The Battle for Kiev, 1943

"The Battle for Kiev, 1943" is a 2nd edition version of Flavio Carrillo's popular scenario from TEM #32. There will be minor revisions to the rules and orders of battle, but the centerpiece of the revision will be an A. E. Goodwin Collector Series representation of the playing area (similar in style to the map that appeared with "Lunge to Stalingrad" in TEM #34).

The Long Left Flank

This scenario by Brian McKie focuses on the advance of the Commonwealth (primarily Canadian) forces along the coast of France and into Holland and Germany (on the Second Front maps from the 17A/I 6A: 1500 row north) during late 1944. Bound to be a favorite among Europa fans north of the border, the scenario is heavily influenced by Jeffery Williams' 1988 book, The Long Left Flank: The Hard Fought Way to the Reich, 1944-45.

Drive to the Meuse

Another Bulge game?! No, three more of them! This project has evolved into multiple scenarios. The first simulates the battle at regimental / brigade level, with each game turn representing one day of real time. Special rules cover the reduced map and time scale.

The second presents a Bulge mini-game, played at Europa scale on a 8 1/2"x 11" map consisting of Second Front hexes blown up to two or three times their normal size. The third variation offers a Bulge maxi-game covering the whole front, allowing players to experiment. Try Model's "small solution" (kleine Losung) of pinching off the Aachen salient, or launch the offensive in an entirely different sector of the Western Front. All three treatments will cover the January period usually ignored in Bulge games.

The Magnitogorsk Campaign

A Europa Competition Scenario - and yet another use for those maps from The Urals. History to the winds, this will be a completely hypothetical, no, make that imaginary, scenario using imaginary OBs and "auction-style" victory conditions, fought over (probably) rather unfamiliar terrain. It's difficult to design a historical scenario that is both accurate and truly balanced for competitive play, so with this project we're not even going to try. The tentative goal is to unveil this for Europafest '96, but don't hold us to it.
