Europa Contest

The "Siege" of Belgrade

by Frank Watson

"An Austrian Army, Awfully Arrayed Boldly by Battery Besieged Belgrade"

You are in command of that most awesome of Europa creatures, the Army of Yugoslavia. What's worse, it's the "Operation Marita" scenario out of Balkan Front, so you have reason to be pessimistic. Your task is to deploy neutral Yugoslav forces to defend the capital at Beograd.

Send us your best Neutrality Watch deployment for:

  • forces in Serbia (19 units);
  • forces in Bosnia-Hercegovina (4 units);
  • Frontier Defense Forces along the Romanian Border (3 units);
  • Frontier Defense Forces along the Hungarian Border (9 units);
  • the Royal Yugoslav Air Force (6 units).

Include a description of why your deployment is effective, or at least as effective as possible given the circumstances. (Don't depend on the judges to figure this out, they might not be as bright as you). Note that, since there is obviously not one unique correct answer to this contest, this description might be particularly important.

The winner will receive a $25 credit voucher from GR/D. All entrants will receive a credit voucher for $5. All entries must be received by July 1, 1996.
