Battle for Rome

Tidbits

by Rick Gayler

Question: Shouldn't there be a fort at Cassino in the "Battle for Rome" initial setup?

Answer: There was a fort in hex 2022 during the initial drafts of the scenario, but we took it out during playtesting. It just made Cassino too tough and no player would attack it. That's sort of doing our research backwards, but it seemed to make a better game. It is certainly easy to justify a fort in hex 2022 from a historical standpoint.

Question: Why don't the German 34th Inf and 42nd Jager XXs (both Jun 144) appear in the scenario?

Answer: The 34th garrisoned Genova, and 42nd joined the Ligurian command. Neither figured in the fighting between Rome and the Gothic Line.

Second Front Map Errata Noted in Playtest: The city in hex 0824 should be Arezzo, and not Avezzano. Avezzano actually lies in hex 1722.
