It's How You Play the Game

3M Tape Flags

by Mark Yanaway

In line with my previous theft of ideas from the Army Command and General Staff College, here's another suggestion.

Intelligence (G-2) officers often use "Post-it Notes" to update unit data and positions on maps. The good people at 3M have developed "Tape Flags," or colored tabs, for indexing pages. We often use the red tabs to represent the Soviet organized, trained and equipped forces while using yellow tabs to represent us good guys. (Unfortunately they do not currently have blue tabs.)

When cut down (or as is) the notes are very handy for posting temporary information to the maps or charts. They are sticky and so don't slide when accidentally bumped and can be moved a number of times before they no longer stick.
