Sudden Storm

Clarifications and Modifications

by Rick Gayler

Sudden Storm is in Issue 35.--RL

Rule 7A3, Regauging:

Further playtesting has revealed that the scenario works best if a "contiguous hex" restriction is placed upon the German player's regauging ability. Modify the second sentence of the sixth paragraph to read: "However, no more than half of the total rail hexes available in a turn may be converted in the same weather zone, and no more than four of these hexes may be contiguous."

This modification ensures that the German player spreads his regauging out in a historical fashion, and prevents him from making a 12-hex regauging spurt down the same rail line several turns in a row.

Rule 12F, Resource Points:

The example in the third paragraph contains an error. It should read: "During the German combat phase, Axis units attack a hex occupied by a Soviet rifle brigade and four resource points. The result of the combat is a DR; the rifle brigade retreats from the hex, carrying one resource point with it. Axis units advance after combat into the hex, thus gaining ownership. One resource point there is captured (half of the 3 points there, rounded down), and the remaining 2 points are immediately destroyed."

Rule 36D, Victory Commentary:

Since only the German player can score victory points (VPs) in this scenario, the second paragraph is confusing. Rephrase it as follows: "The best way to determine a winner is to play the game twice, with the German player from the first game switching sides and becoming the Soviet player in the second game. The player who scores the higher VP total as the German player is declared the match winner."
