News from GR/D

June 1988

By Winston Hamilton

Welcome, campers, to the good old summer time.

Remember all those years ago, right after DNO/UNT was published and we were convinced that this series was on its way, when GDW announced a game on the invasion of the Balkans, Marita-Merkur, and we couldn't wait, but we did and did and did. Well, I am taking you back to yesteryear again with the No Pasaran! counter sheets. Yes, they are going to be published; yes they will match Europa standards and format; yes, you will love them and need them (I hope). Well, there have been some changes in the planning. I am looking into the possibility of adding some errata counters to the sheet to correct those few counters in the series that are in error. Can't say for sure how this will work or if it will come to pass, but I want to investigate it. If it is feasible I would like to get the errata counters printed now.

More on that as time goes by.

Most of the errors the computer meltdown caused seem to have been corrected. Some folks didn't send changes of address so I got back about 12 newsletters with most of them having forwarding addresses on them. Some did not. I believe that I will encourage you this time to keep us informed as to your current address. With the publication of TEN 4 the EPA will not forward newsletters a second time to you (expense, you see) so please, please, please keep us informed if you move if you want to keep the newsletter coming to you.

The GDW warehouse crew has formed a softball team called the Exploding Pequins. Perfect record so far. Not really Europa news, but somewhat interesting, I think.

A now project has been undertaken. GR/D is planning to release a four-color remake of the Sea Lion map that was issued with the first edition of Their Finest Hour. The second edition did not have the invasion game map with it (an enlarged map of southern England) and I think it might be a nice addition, with the rules modification as needed for a companion to the Their Finest Hour Kit we plan to release. It will depend on cost, in part. If we don't redraw the map, we may simply reissue the old map. Haven't got enough info as yet to make the choice. Look for a special announcement in the mail when things get done. That's all for now.
