Note: The ad hoc cavalry groups were all either converted to regular cavalry corps or otherwise disbanded after the regular corps were formed in December-January 1941-42. However, had enough cavalry divisions remained, there is no reason that armies would not have kept their individual "Cavalry Groups" as mobile reserves, at least until the tank corps became available.

Finally, for those who have a real love for the insignificant, the insufferable, and the insulting: in short, for "ants", there were at least 2 NKVD cavalry regiments scurrying about the Soviet security areas. They are available at the start of the war:

Central Asia MD:
1x M-8 Cav III 19 (NKVD)

North Caucasus MD:
1x M-8 Cav III 17 (NKVD)

The (1) combat strength means that they have 1 pt of attack or defense ONLY against partisans or 0-strength combat units: they are larger than the average ant, but they don't have the firepower of even the average tank company or a supported infantry battalion.
