Europafest II

Progress Report #3

by Mark Swenholt

As a final reminder, the date and site of Europafest this year are as follows:

Site: LeBaron Hotel, 1055 Regal Row, Dallas, TX 75247 (214-6348550)

Date: August 3-5, 1990

Admission: $16 for preregistered attendees; $18 at the door

Just a few notes to wrap up these reports. Based on preregistration so far I believe we will have an adequate playing area. If there is a late rush we will have additional room available to us to handle any overflow.

We have an outline complete for our program book. This will be a nice touch since it gives us an upgraded status, something to remember, more class.

Here is a tentative list of some of the speakers and seminars that are planned for the event. In no particular order, they are:

A.E. Goodwin, touring the Europa maps.

David Huges the Canadians and their British friends.

Mark Van Roekel, on line and with an electronic demo that should knock your socks off.

John Astell, on everything about everything, with everything else thrown in.

Rick Gayler, to say a few words about the magazine and answer all rules questions on the spot. ( ulp! Ed.)

Winston Hamilton, the banquet host.

There will also be a roundtable on the SF playtest and a discussion on play balance in FitE/SE.

As of this update we have not heard from anyone wanting/ needing the Thursday night "extra time" access and set-up. Unless we hear from a bunch of people in the meantime there will be an early Friday kickoff. We will try to have a sign put up in the lower lobby of the hotel on Thursday night giving the rendezvous point for early arrivals. I plan to be at Origins '90, so talk to me there (leave messages at the GDW/GRD booth, please) if you want a faceto-face discussion about any early activity. I will also try to bring a list of all preregistered people to Origins '90 if you want to confirm we got your mail. This is the last up-date that will appear.

This may be your last chance to preregister. We hope to see you at our convention. A good time will be had by all.

Remember: Mark your correspondence to me with the word "EUROPAFEST," please!!

See you in Dallas.
