I will take this opportunity to wish everybody a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year, whether you receive this issue before or after Christmas is something which I will have to wait and see, but as this section is one of the first things which gets typed up I can only hope that my projected timetable of events goes to plan. Earlier this week while thinking of things that I could produce in booklet form it struck me that a series of titles that deal with decrees and regulations from various countries from the 19th century would be of help to researchers, each booklet would contain 60 pages of text on one country i.e. Peru, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia etc. this data would be taken from books and files that I have. The text, for ease of typing, while be straight copies of the Spanish text rather than my translation of them, as I can always make a hash of translation, much better to allow you to translate from the original than repeat my mistakes, I hope that you agree. This project should begin next year and as you may realise it will be more a labour of love rather than a commercial proposition, as I can only see me selling limited numbers of these titles, but I do believe that this type of information is required reading if you are serious about organisational and uniform data from these countries, we will have to see. Well I had better get started as there is quite a bit of text for this issue so I'm cutting down on the illustrations this issue, sorry about that but I hope you like what I include in their place. You may have wondered why the first paragraph was typed up in November and I'm typing this in January, it is because I was working on a new booklet which is now available, entitled: New Spain & Mexico 1500-1945 (1), edited by myself it is the first of a series of booklets by the Military Collector & Historian (Society) commonly known as the Company of Military Historians, Washington D.C. The booklet contains articles and plates (21) that have previously been published by this Society during it's 50 years of publishing their Journal, work by J. Hefter, Detmar H. Finke, John R. Elting & René Chartrand are included, the price per booklet is £ 7.50, contact either myself or Andrew Preziosi (USA) for copies.
