Peruvian Legion

Grenadier 1824

by C.A. Norman

[From a contemporary coloured lithograph in the Museo del Ejercito, Madrid]

Bearskin dark brown, brass plate, white cords, plume white over red, cockade white (should be red and white], light red back patch, tunic dark blue, cuffs and collar red both with gold lace, white piping to front and bottom of tunic, white turnbacks, gold lace on chest, brass buttons, shoulder wings in dark blue with white piping to wing and strap, fringe is yellow/gold, trousers and spats white, black shoes, white leather cross-belts with brass plate, mid grey roll with white straps. The two smaller figures are shown with a white bearskin cover and grey overcoat with red collar and wings, white pouch cover, trousers and spats, the other figure shows red turnbacks with no device.

Maybe the larger figure's turnback is only piping in the original lithograph? T.D.H.
