News of the death of Dave Allsop has reached me by Cameron Robinson, director of Frei Korps 15, I knew Dave from the mid 80s, we were both interested in the Paragayan War and we exchanged data on this and the "F.E.B." on a regular basis, he also came to see me with his wife. While here we talked about publishing 4 plates in black and white on Latin American Military uniforms, this fell through as we could not find anyone local to illustrate the plates, we could not draw that well, or we thought we couldn't. After a year of doing very little, article-wise, I decided that with the illustrations that were in my files from my friends Jose Balaguer and Chuck Norman that I would have a go myself, that was how El Dorado came about. It could be said that Dave's interest in having a go at the publishing side helped push me into actually doing it after years of thinking about it, he will be missed by me and I'm sure a number of other members.
