Uruguay Navy circa 1970

The Uruguayan Navy is under the authority of the War Office and the Ministry of the Navy. it comprises of 350 officers and 1,500 crewmen. General Officers have a white flag with one, two or three blue stars according to their rank.

There is also a Naval Air Force under the command of the Navy, with two bases; isla de la Libertad [Montevideo] and Laguna del Sauce (Maldonado]. The equipment is North American [U.S.].
