1st Brigade of Infantry;
Cazadores de la Union, 1 Battalion 831 men.
Regimiento del Rey, 1 Battalion 1,737 men.

2nd Brigade of Infantry;
Cazadores de Bailen, 1 Battalion 872 men.
Regimiento de Napoles, 1 Battalion 1,007 men.
Regimiento de Cuba, 1 Battalion 891 men.
Gendarmes [for use with the whole Corps] 35 men.

Cavalry;
El Rey, 1 Squadron 141 men.
Escort, 2 Platoons 32 men.

Engineers;
2 Companies 208 men.

Artillery;
3 Foot Companies, without horses or mules, 344 men, to serve 8 rifled 12-pounder guns, 2 21-pounder howitzers, 2 27-pounder mortars, l Battery of eight 3-pounders, 1 Battery of six mountain guns.

TOTAL STRENGTH 6,234 men*

    * Note: Either the original compiler made an arithmetic error or the number of men in each unit did not include their commissioned officers and Staff Corps.

[Spanish troops occupied Vera Cruz and the Castle of San Juan de Ulua on 17th December 1861, but were withdrawn after a few months]
