Spanish Ambassador to Honduras
In this text I have stated the year in which these units left Spain and not when they actually arrived at their destinations in America [in the case of late departures these units would reach America in the following year]. All of these troops fought to the end of hostilities in the region where they were sent, although casualties would reduce the strength of these units by some 30%. I have used many sources for this list which if required I could inform you of later. All units mentioned, unless otherwise stated are Infantry Battalions. 1811
Expedition No 2.; 87 men to Montevideo. Expedition No 3.; 224 men to Puerto Rico [ newly raised Companies called "Americanas"] 1812 Expedition No 5.; 105 men to Montevideo [1 newly raised Company, probably with the name "Voluntarios de Madrid" Expedition No 6.; 308 men to Santa Marta. [2nd Battalion of Albuera Infantry Regiment] Expedition No 7.; 576 men to Montevideo (1st Abuera: 137 drowned in shipwreck) Expedition No 8. ; 2,408 men to Veracruz [1st Asturias, Fernando VII, Lobera] Expedition No 9.; 940 men to Veracruz [Castilla and 1st Dragoon Squadron] Expedition No 10.; 214 men to Maracaibo ["Cadres"?] 1813 Expedition No 12.; 2,620 men to Veracruz [1st Saboya and Extremadura] Expedition No 13.; 3,446 men to Montevideo [Lorca, 3rd Americano, Artillery, and 1 Squadron of Horse Grenadiers which did not have horses] Expedition No 14.; 1,449 men to Venezuela [ Inf.Regiment Granada with, maybe, 2 Battalions] Expedition No 15.; 1,473 men to Lima [2nd Talavera and Artillery] 1814 1815
