Well I do hope that I find everybody in good spirits and avidly reading the latest news on the Gulf Crisis, as it is known at the time of writing [24/8/90]. This issue you may notice quite a number of illustrations by Snr. J. Balaguer thats because he has just returned from a vacation in Peru which allowed him to visit a number of Archives and Museums there. This brought about some new data, some of it I've included in this issue, hope that you like it? Also I've received the remainder of the plates on the Panamanian Forces pre--1990 by Mark Conrad, these will be included as and when space permits, I was thinking of doing a number devoted to these plates etc. but thinking about I realized that only about 40% of the members were interested in modern uniform/insignia etc. so mixed newsletters won the day. I have been recommended two books by J.Meister, one on the Falkland/Malvinas War at D-Mark 58. and the last which I think is the better on "Francisco Solano Lopez and the War of the Triple Alliance price D-Mark 78. both are obtainable from Biblio Verlag, Postfach 1949, D-4500 Osnabruck, W.Germany. As one can imagine they are in German but the latter has Orders of Battle etc which to me would be of assistance even though I might not he able read the rest of the text. Also Mr. Meister is willing to share some of his knowledge with us and is going to send in orbats of a number of Latin American Wars which he has, can't wait for them!
