These two figures were taken note of during a visit to South America in the late 50's and they may shed some extra light on these two uniforms and the Peruvian one go with the plate by J. Balaguer printed in El Dorado No 2, Vol.II on the modern dress of the "Husares de Junin". While also showing a trooper of the Ecuadorian "Grenaderos de Tarqui a Caballo" of the same period. Fig. 1. The Peruvian uniform was taken from one in the Peruvian Army Museum at Callao, this has various differences to Sr. Balaguers plate, maybe this one is from an earlier Dress Regulation? Shako covered with blue cloth, red top band [wool], pine cone shaped pompon and cords [1 interwoven over a second single strand] on front brass crossed lances, large red/white/red cockade with brass saw-toothed edging, black leather peak edged in brass, no strap or chin-scales. Tunic red with blue collar, epaulettes, cuffs, breast braiding and "plastron" shaped edging, single strand knot above cuffs and aiguilettes on right breast, brass buttons, black tape edging on bottom of tunic only. Black sabre bandalier and waist-belt with large brass buckle. Trousers [not breeches] blue with wide red stripe, black boots and sword knot. [Note all blues are a bright "Royal" or "Turkish" blue medium dark, the reds are a darkish scarlet]
