Books that have appeared in the January [1990] list from ATHENA BOOKS which I think could be of help.

Pershing's Mission in Mexico, by H. Braddy, 1973, reprint, £12.50.
Hernan Cortes, Conqueror of Mexico, by S. de Madariaga, 1954 edition, pp. 564. £12.50.
South American Fights & Fighters, by C. Brady, 1st edition 1910, £22.00.

All enquiries to ATHENA BOOKS, 34 Imperial Crescent, Town Moor, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN2 5BU. ENGLAND.

Today just as I'm finishing this last page I recieved a book list from Mr John Tunstill "Soldiers" The Old Telephone Exchange, Pershore Road, Eckington, WR10 3AP. Worcestershire, ENGLAND. In it is advertised for sale a copy of "CRONICA DET; TRAAJE MILITAR EN MEXICO DEL SIGLO XVI AL XX" published in 1960 with colour plates by J. Hefter and many other B/W plates, text is in English and Spanish, the price is £ 6.00 and the charge for postage is £1.50 for the U.K. This is a book that. anybody who is interested Mexican Uniforms should have, don't delay.

I have just recieved from Christian Fernandez a copy of the Instituto Argentino de Historia Militar's "Boletin" which is the very first issue, printed in 1988. The President of this Istitute is Brigadier [Ret.] D.Alfredo Gonzalez Filgueira, the only address that I can see is the printers which is: S.I.C. GUATEMALA 4224, 1425 CAPITAL FEDERAL, REP. ARGENTINA.

The price is not printed on or in the Buletin but it is 160 pages long of AS size, with articles by Jorge H.Fernandez Rivas and Julio M.Luqui Lagleyze, the latter being on the "Peruvian Legion of the Guard" 1821-1825. I hope that in future the following issues will come to light and an address for us to subscribe to, as any new information on Latin American Military History, no matter what language its in [Russian could be a bit of a trial for me!] is always a help.

Recieved also from Argentina notification that the coloured plates by the late Snr. Salinas are now being reproduced by the "Club del Soldado de Plomo" at [I believe] £ 1.00 each plus postage. The majority of these plates that I've seen deal with the Uniforms of the Spanish Colonial troops that were in existence or later raised to fight against the British Invasions of the River Plate region, the standard of these plates are superb, the copies are coloured photocopies. If interested please write to Dr. Ernosto Quiroga Micheo, Las Heras 1895, p.5°B, 1127 BUENOS AIRES, REP. ARGENTINA. who is the President of the Society/Club.

In the October 1989 "Bulletin of New Publications" published by the "HISPANIC AND LUSO-BRAZILIAN COUNCIL", 2 Beigrave Square, London, 8PJ, I saw these few books that appealed to me

"The Mexican Revolution of Ayutla, 1854-0655; An Analysis of the Evolution and Destruction of Santa Anna' Last Dictatorship." by R.A.Johnson, published Greenwood Press, 3 Henrietta St. London, WC2E 8LU. Price; £15.00.

"Pedro de Fivera an.o the Military Regulations. -for Northern New Spain, 1724-1729." by T.H.Navvlor & C.W.Pclzer, published University of Arizona Press, 1.x.30 N. Park Ave., Tucson, Arizona 85719 - 4140. U.S.A.. Price; $40.00.

[Sorry no idea of the postage from these 'Publishers. T.D.H]
