OFFICERS OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD OF HONOUR, 1822. Helmet all gilt with black horsehair crest, green plume. Tunic white with red collar, cuffs and piping, gilt buttons and eppoulets, gold rank lace on cuffs piped in red, waist and pouchbelt black with gilt fittings, pouch black with gold lace and device, waist-sash red with gold tassels, gloves white. Breeches white with gold stripe, sabretache black with gilt badge, black straps, gilt sword hilt and gold sword knot, steel scabbard, boots black, shabraque dark blue with gold lace (it is also shown in jaguar skin with gold lace edging). Chevron on left arm gold with the legend "INDEFENDENCIA OU MORTE" in black embroided onto it surmounted by a green cockade.
