FUERZAS DE DEFENSA, REPUBLICA DE PANAMA, 1989
This unit guards FFDD headquarters in downtown Panama. The colors t,-N are light blue with gold fringe, silver lettering, wood staff, silver point, and blue ribbon. The Indian warrior Urraca (who resisted the Spanish conquerors) is natural on red background, surrounded by a yellow triangle with black letters. Green wreath with yellow berries; brown wings; camouflaged parachute; tricolor bow; black letters on a scroll that is first blue (FUERZAS), then white (DE DEFENSA), then red (PANAMA); all-yellow frogman. The unit badge at left is red outlined black, with yellow lettering, natural Indian, green feathers, red headband. The figure is a Teniente 10 wearing a black/brown/green/tan battledress uniform like U.S. issue, but with shoulder straps (with rank in black). Collar insignia is black embroidered R.P. and crossed rifles. Olive and black version of FFDD badge, no unit badge on right sleeve. ALICE equipment, canteen, bayonet sheath, jungle boots, and M-16 rifle. Yellow scarf, light lime green beret with olive and black version of unit badge. Berets carry gold officer rank (a star for a major), black plastic NCO rank; optional gold parachutist wings and gold crossed rifles. This lieutenant wears green and black camouflage on his face.

This is an anti-guerilla unit raised in 1969 and located at Rio Hato. The colors are red with yellow fringe and lettering; in the center is the red unit insignia outlined in yellow, with black letters, and white and black skull and crossed machetes. The main figure wears a straw hat with the unit badge, black T-shirt, blue jeans, jungle boots, Kalashnikov rifle, and a grey 3-pouch ammo carrier covered with thin, green streaks. The small lower figure is a variation of this uniform, wearing sandals, OD pistol belt, leather scabbard, and a basket with twine straps in which he carries a rifle and radio. The stick is used in conjuction with the machete to clear a path through jungle. The small upper figure wears OD. Yellow embroidered collar insignia are "R.P." and crossed rifles. Sleeve insignia are yellow on red title, unit badge (but not outlined in yellow), black rank chevron, and full color FFDD insignia.
