Welcome to the first issue of the El Dorado Newsletter, it is to assist in the study of uniforms, organisation, insignia, standards and medals from the countries which make up South America, Central American and the Caribbean Islands. The many different periods of history that will be covered in this Newsletter vary from Columbus until the present day, allowing a vast subject to be researched. I have decided that my time and effort could be best used by fellow collectors in producing a bi-monthly newsletter which did not include articles on wars or campaigns but stayed with the much needed information on uniforms, insignia etc.

You will see on the following pages the format that I have used for my own work is and will be as colour guides, this is the quickest method for me to reproduce my information from books, plates etc. Although I hope that a number of readers will want to include in future issues some of their own research material in their own style bearing in mind the sizes of the pages. I have been offered help in this field by Snr. Alberto Marquez of Chile and Ron Poulter of England.
